TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State University water polo program has received a National Letter of Intent from Amanda Young, head coach Todd Clapper announced. Currently a senior in high school, she joins Shannon Haas, Morgan Leech-McDonald, Rebecca Clopp and Paige Walters in the class that will join the team for the 2010 season. Young is a goalie for Fountain Valley (Calif.) High School. She is a three-year varsity letter winner and was named First-Team All-Sunset League in 2008. She also plays for Golden West Water Polo Club, which is coached by Olympian and current Olympic goalkeeper coach Bernice Orwig. Young was a part of the USWP Southern Pacific Zone team in 2007 and 2008. "Amanda is a perfect fit for our program at ASU," Clapper said.
