Water Polo Places Nine on Academic All-MPSF Team

TEMPE, Ariz. - Nine members of the Arizona State University water polo program were selected to the Academic All-MPSF team, the conference office announced Wednesday. Of the nine Sun Devils selected, five are making their first appearances on the academic ledger while three have attained the third selections of their careers. In all, Arizona State's nine selections tied for the most in the conference with Hawaii while Pacific (eight) and Stanford (seven) also posted six or more student-athletes on the academic lists. Seniors Elaine Bentley (San Diego, Calif.), Adriane Mota (Long Beach, Calif.) and Tessa Wyborny (Walnut Creek, Calif.) each earned the academic honor for the third times in their career while Katie Hedley (Lake Forest, Calif.) earned her second academic honor from the MPSF. First-time honorees included Ashley Bower (Bondi Beach, Australia), Kim Buck (Lisle, Ill.), Katy Lawlor (El Segundo, Calif.), Raelyn Ritchie (Newport Beach, Calif.) and Caylinn Wallace (Laguna Hills, Calif.). To be selected for the academic team, a student-athlete needs to be a sophomore academically, hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher, have completed one full academic year at the school and have competed in 50 percent or more of the team's competitions during the season.
