Doud Named Co-MPSF Mikasa Player of the Week
April 11, 2006
TEMPE, Ariz. - Addison Doud, a freshman all-around player on the No. 12 Arizona State University water polo team, was selected as a Co-MPSF Mikasa Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. Doud becomes the second Sun Devil to attain the weekly honor this season following fellow rookie Rowie Webster, who attained the award on Feb. 28. Over the weekend, Doud helped the Sun Devils snap their four-game losing streak by rebounding with a 5-3 upset of No. 8 San Jose State on the road. After falling behind, 2-0, to the host Spartans in the first quarter, Doud scored three goals in a row, including her first two just 35 seconds apart, to put the Sun Devils on top for the their fourth upset of a Top 8 team. Doud, who just like Webster, shared the honor with USC's Whitney Morgan, also added a goal in the weekend finale at No. 2 Stanford. The Sun Devils stand 12-11 overall this season and are 10th in the MPSF standings with a 4-7 record. ASU will not play this week, but it will return to the pool for its home and regular season finale on April 22 at noon when the Sun Devils play host to No. 7 San Diego State. The game also will serve as Senior Day for the team while also being designated as this year's Gold Game. All fans are encouraged to wear gold to the game.
