Ashley returns for her second season as a Sun Devil after a solid showing in her freshman season, which saw her play in 45 games, including the 2007 Women's College World Series. On the season, Muenz hit .233 with 24 hits and 20 runs scored. In addition, Muenz hit six home runs while driving in 26 runs on the year, one home run coming in the NCAA Tournament against BYU. Even while posting a .456 slugging percentage, Muenz was also a solid field player, taking the position at first in most of her games, where she compiled 118 putouts for a .962 fielding percentage.
Ashley was a 2006 graduate of Curtis High School, where she was a two-sport athlete. Muenz earned three varsity letters for softball and two for soccer. As a junior in 2005, Muenz led all of the offensive categories in her league, as well as earning All-League shortstop honors. In 2006, she was named an All-League shortstop, an All-area shortstop, and an All-State middle infielder.
Muenz was born in Tacoma, Wash. to Dan (General Contractor) and Kim (Teacher) Muenz who both competed in gymnastics for Southern Illinois University. Muenz has one older brother, Alex (22). While undecided on her major, Muenz in contemplating a career as an athletic trainer.
