Brittany returns for her second season as a Sun Devil to fill out the bullpen at catcher. Though she saw limited playing time in 2007, she remained an important part of the bullpen helping to guide both Katie Burkhart and Megan Elliott throughout the season. Brittney was a walk-on in 2007 to the Sun Devil squad after lettering twice in volleyball and three times in softball at Woodland High in Woodland, Calif. A 2006 graduate of Woodland, Matta captained the softball team her senior where she also hit .367 at the plate.
The exploratory major was born to Guy and Janine Matta of Woodland, Calif. on Dec. 28, 1987 in Sacramento, Calif. She has a younger sister, Jillian (17), and has hopes one day to train at Quantico for the FBI and forensics.
