Jessica Mapes returns for her junior season, after a solid sophomore campaign which saw her take the reigns as the Sun Devils' regular lead-off hitter. Mapes hit .208 on the season with 35 runs scored as well as five stolen bases. In her freshman season of 2006, Mapes went from walk-on utility player to the Sun Devils' leadoff hitter by the Women's College World Series. Mapes went .272 at the plate with 31 runs scored for the Devils along with 12 stolen bases and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
A local product, Mapes had four successful seasons at Tempe's Marcos de Niza High School. Jessica was a three-time All-Arizona selection who was voted Team MVP in 2003, 2004 and 2005. She was named to the All-5A First Team three times, as well as the First Team All-Region three times. In 2003, she helped lead Marcos to a second place finish in the state of Arizona. Jessica is also attending ASU on a Presidential Academic Scholarship.
Jessica was born to Dan and Nancy on February 9, 1987 in Boise, Idaho and has one younger sister, Kristin (17).
