Caylyn returns for her junior campaign as a Sun Devil after a solid freshman season and a 2008 season which saw her step to the plate as a serious offensive threat at any time. CJ finished the season with a .285 batting average with 32 runs scored and 36 driven in along with ten homeruns, fifth highest longball total on the team. While her .585 slugging percentage proved she was an extra-base threat at the plate, her .356 on-base percentage and three stolen bases also proved she was a threat on the base paths as well. A solid glove on the field as well, Caylyn patrolled the outfield where she compiled a .853 fielding percentage. An in-state product, CJ captained the Corona del Sol softball team her junior and senior years and helped lead her club team, the Hotshots to a second place finish at Nationals. While at Corona del Sol, Carlson was named a Tempe All-City 2nd baseman her sophomore year, a Tempe All-City Shortstop her junior and senior years and the Tribune Player of the Year her senior year. Carlson hails from Chandler, Ariz. where she was born on March 21, 1988 and is the only child of Ren and Marsha (Dental Hygienist) Carlson, and while currently an exploratory major, is contemplating pursuing a career in speech therapy.
