Soccer Signs Six Student-Athletes

TEMPE, Ariz. - Fourth year women's head soccer coach Ray Leone announced Friday that six student-athletes have officially signed to study at Arizona State University and compete for the Sun Devil soccer program. The class includes two NSCAA junior college first-team All-Americans, a 100 goal scorer, a US U-19 pool player and arguably the top player from the state of Arizona.

"Overall, we are very happy with this class," says Leone. "The six student-athletes we have signed are versatile players that will add a great deal to our young program. We recruited people of strong character and athletic talent and we are very excited to welcome these young women into the Sun Devil family. They are expected to make a big contribution to next year's team and beyond."

Kyleyn Felts: Defender - Irvine, CA (Mater Dei HS)

- Cal South State Champion

- Captain / Two-time All-League Selection

- Club Team - SoCal Blues

"Kyleyn is an athletic and hard working young player. She comes from an excellent club team, the Blues, and has the potential to be a high-level college player."

Juanita Lawson: Defender - Orange, CA (Long Beach City College)

- 2003 NSCAA First-Team All-American

- 2002 and 2003 National Junior College Champions

- Team finished the season ranked #1 in the nation in 2002 and 2003

- Shared the 2002 final #1 national ranking with Rhode Island Community College, where incoming recruit Katie Leahy attends school

- Set her high school 100m record at 11.9

Katie Leahy: Forward - Warwick, RI (Rhode Island Community College)

- 2002 and 2003 NSCAA First-Team All-American

- 2002 National Junior College Champions

- 2002 and 2003 MVP of the Junior College National Tournament

- Shared the 2002 final #1 national ranking with Long Beach City College, where incoming recruit Juanita Lawson attends school

- Broke every scoring record at RICC (100 career goals)

"Katie brings a level of intensity that has made her a proven goal scorer at the Junior College level. She finished her career with 100 goals and a share of the national #1 ranking in 2002."

Lara Kezer: Forward - Pleasant Hill, CA (Carondelet HS)

- NSCAA/Adidas High School All-Far West Team (2002, 2003)

- Club Team - Walnut Creek Strikers

"Lara is an exceptional athlete. She has good speed and strength, and should be an excellent addition to the program. She can play up top and in the back."

Alissa Oldenkamp: Forward/Midfielder - Chandler, AZ (Mesa Dobson HS)

- 2004 McDonalds All-American

- 5A Arizona All-State First Team (00-01, 01-02, 03-04)

- Regional Player of the Year (00-01, 03-04)

- Leading goal scorer at the 2003 U-17 National Championships

"Alissa is an exciting attacking player with a tremendous work rate. She comes from the successful Sereno soccer club, where she teamed up with current Sun Devil, Levise Robertson, to win the U-17 national championship last summer."

Kira Sarkisian: Midfield/Forward - Saratoga, CA (St. Francis HS)
