Arizona State Gymnastics Program Announces Final Signing of the 2007-08 Recruiting Class

May 9, 2007

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State gymnastics program has added Beaté Jones (Red Bank, N.J.) for the 2007-08 campaign, 27th year head coach John Spini announced. Jones will join fellow members of the 2007-08 recruiting class, Mary Atkinson, Francesca Mercucio and Stephannie Moore.

"With a scholarship available, we sought after the best high school senior to take her place," says Spini, "We feel like we got her with Beaté.

"We had recruited Beaté her junior year, but she had an Achilles tendon injury. She has come back very strong."

Jones, who trains at Will-Moor Gymnastics, is a Level 10 all-arounder. She was the Region VII vault champion in 2005. Jones was also the 2007 New Jersey State vault champion and placed second in the all-around and on bars in that meet.

"Beaté is a very powerful gymnast," says Spini. "She is an amazing tumbler and vaulter and will be very good on those events. She is great on vault and bars and will likely compete in the all-around."
