Women's Golf Qualifies For NCAA Championships

STANFORD, Calif. - The Arizona State women's golf team finished the NCAA West Regionals in superb fashion on Saturday, totaling a 298 for the second day in a row (312-298-298=908) to finish seventh overall and qualify for the NCAA Championships. The Sun Devils found themselves in 18th after the first day of competition but rebounded on the final two days to earn a trip to Opelika, Ala., May 18-21 to compete for the national title. Redshirt freshman Danelle Perata (Vacaville, Calif.) led the way for the Sun Devils, finishing in a tie for 25th for the tournament at eight-over (79-71-74=224). One stroke back in a tie for 30th was sophomore Alissa Kuczka (Phoenix, Calif.), who shot a 75 on each day of the competition (75-75-75=225). Junior Erin Tone (Gilbert, Ariz.) tied for 51st (77-78-77=232), freshman Charmaine Erasmus (Bradenton, Fla.) tied for 57th (85-74-74=233) and freshman Tiffany Tavee (Gilbert, Ariz.) tied for 72nd (81-80-85=236) for ASU.
Hannah Jun of UCLA won the individual title at seven-under (67-71-71=209) while the Bruins won the team title by seven strokes at three-under par (282-293-286=861). In addition to the Sun Devils and UCLA, other teams that made the NCAAs from the West Region include California, Stanford, Washington, Georgia, Ohio State, and Texas.
