Women's Golf Gains Momentum

Oahu, Hawaii - The third-ranked Arizona State women's golf team closes in on tournament leaders Arizona and Oklahoma State at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, hosted by the University of Hawaii, in Oahu, Hawaii. ASU, posting the lowest score of the second round, shot a two-day total of 18-over 594 (301-293).

The play of sophomore All-American Anna Nordqvist and junior All-American Azahara Munoz propelled the Sun Devils to with in seven strokes of tournament co-leaders Arizona and Oklahoma State.

Nordqvist shot a 69 in the second round to move into second place with a 2-under 142 (73-69). Nordqvist and tournament leader Alison Walshe from Arizona are the only golfers currently under-par. Also aiding the Sun Devils, Munoz carded a second round score of 70 to tie for third with a 2-over 146 (76-70).

Individually, junior All-American Jennifer Osborn and sophomore Juliana Murcia each posted a two-round total of 9-over 153 (78-75), (74-79) respectively. Sophomore Liisa Kelo is tied for 73rd after shooting a two-round total of 22-over 166 (80-86). Senior Camila Sola, playing as an individual, is tied for 19th with a two round total of 10-over 154 (76-78).

The final round of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational concludes tomorrow at the par-72, 5,829-yard Kane`ohe Klipper Golf Course.
