AT ASU: Earned his B.S. in marketing in May of 2005...four straight top-10 finishes late in 2005 spring season is the best by a Sun Devil since Chez Reavie (2001 USGA Public Links champion) posted four straight top-10 finishes in the spring of 2003, while Jeff Quinney (2000 U.S. Amateur champion) also matched the feat in the spring of 2001...Matt Jones posted five straight top-five finishes in the spring of 2001 en route to first-team All-America honors...a 2001 graduate of Washington High School in Phoenix...qualified for the 2004 U.S. Amateur at Winged Foot in Mamaroneck, N.Y., and shot a 10-over 153 (72-81) on the tough course, missing the match play 64-man tournament by just three strokes...a Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention selection three times (2003-2005) and an All-Pac-10 first-team pick in 2005...appeared in 30 tournaments in four-year career...shot a 3-under 141 (73-68) on July 21-22 at the 2003 Arizona Amateur at Moon Valley Country Club to finish tied for 15th in stroke play, then defeated Brandon Muir in 19 holes before falling to Zach Mowbray (3 and 1)...tied a ASU Karsten Course record with a 62 in a practice round in March of 2002...father, Bill, played tennis at Arizona State in the 1970s. 2004-2005: Won the U.S. Intercollegiate held at Stanford Golf Course April 16-17 with a 2-under 208 (71-70-67) and finished in the top-10 in four straight tournaments in the late spring...also finished sixth at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational April 8-9 with a 1-over 214 (68-74-72), was third at the Pac-10 Championships April 25-27 in Walla Walla, Wash., with a 5-under 279 (67-67-69-76) and was fifth at the NCAA West Regionals May 19-21 at Stanford with a 1-under 209 (69-69-71...earned first-team All-Pac honors. 2003-2004: Played in five tournaments and had a 74.64 stroke average...earned honorable mention Pac-10 All-Academic honors...tied for 12th at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational on April 9-10 with an 8-under 208 (68-72-68)...also competed in the NCAA Preview, Club Glove Intercollegiate, Ping/Arizona Intercollegiate and the USC Classic. 2002-2003: Played in three tournaments and had a 73.78 stroke average...best outing was a 2-over 218 (79-67-72) at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational...also competed in the TOPY Cup in Japan to begin the season and at the PING/Arizona Intercollegiate...67 in the second round of the Thunderbird Invitational was a season-best...earned honorable mention Pac-10 All-Academic honors. 2001-2002: Played in nine tournaments in freshman year and had a 74.82 stroke average...fired a 9-under 207 (67-64-76) and tied for fourth at the ASU Thunderbird/SAVANE Invitational...second round of 64 on April 12 was just two shots off course record...fourth place finish matched the best finish by a Sun Devil all year...competed in the final five tournaments of the year.
