OFF THE TEE: Geography major had one of the best freshman seasons in ASU history in 2007-2008, notching a 72.16 stroke average, fourth-best by a freshman in program history, and that is saying something considering the top three (Alejandro Canizares, Phil Mickelson and Todd Demsey) all eventually won NCAA titles. Followed that up in 2008-2009 with a NCAA West Regional title (both team and individual) and also tied for ninth at the 2009 NCAA Championships in Toledo. Earned Pac-10 Golfer of the Month in May of 2009.

SOPHOMORE SEASON (2008-2009): Saved his best for last in sophomore year as he shot a 12-under 204 (66-68-70) at the 2009 NCAA West Regional in Daly City, Calif., May 14-16 and took home the individual title...tied for ninth at the NCAA Championships (May 26-30) by shooting par, including a 2-under 69 in the second round...tied for 13th at Pac-10 Championship...started season strong with a tie for fifth at NCAA Preview with a 2-under 211 (70-70-71)... three top-10 finishes on the year...averaged 72.80 in 36 rounds and 12 appearances...earned second-team Pac-10 All-Academic honors.

MORE ON THE 2009 WEST REGIONAL: With outright victories in 2009 by both the team and Jesper Kennegard at the West Regional, ASU has won or tied for the title in a NCAA Regional six times. ASU had previously won outright titles in 2001, 1999 and 1995. It tied with Arizona in 1991 and with New Mexico in 1998. Sun Devil Paul Casey won the 1998 individual title outright followed by Jeff Quinney (1999), Benjamin Alvarado Holley (2007) and then Jesper Kennegard in 2009. Matt Jones shared medalist honors in 2001.

FRESHMAN SEASON (2007-2008):Earned honorable mention All-America by Golfweek and the GCAA as he was one of just 10 freshman cited by Golfweek with a All-America honor...was one of two freshmen to earn first-team All-Pac-10 and the first Sun Devil freshman to earn the honor since Paul Casey in 1997-98...posted four top-five finishes and five top-10 finishes and was Sun Devil best finisher in five of the 12 events...won the highly competitive 2008 Hawaii-Hilo Intercollegiate on Feb. 6-8 with a 13-under 197 (68-63-66)...finished 36th in the final Golfweek Rankings.

ALL-PAC-10 AS FRESHMAN: Jesper Kennegard's first-team All-Pac-10 status in his freshman year (2007-2008) puts him in place with some of the best Sun Devils in history. The only other Sun Devils to earn the honor in their freshman year are eventual PGA TOUR members Paul Casey (1997-98), Todd Demsey (1991-92), Phil Mickelson (1988-89) and Billy Mayfair (1984-85).

QUOTING RANDY LEIN: "I watched Jesper for three straight years before he arrived at ASU. He joined a long list of very successful Swedish players who have attended ASU. Chris Hanell was the Golfstat Player of the Year in 1997 and Niklas Lemke was Pac-10 Player of the Year in 2006-2007. I strongly believe that Jesper will have equal success, win tournaments, and receive similar accolades as Chris and Niklas. Jesper is one of the best I have recruited."

PREP AND JUNIOR CAREER: The top ranked golfer in Sweden for his age group from 2004-07... won gold at the 2007 World Boys Junior team championships...the 2006 winner of the Anna Sorenstam Award for Sweden Junior Player of the Year...finished third at the European boys team championships in 2005.

ETC: Born in Stockholm, Sweden...parents are Stefan and Marie of Stockholm...has one sister, Alice...hobbies include hanging out with friends and his girlfriend and playing floorball...full name is Jesper Theodor Kennegard...majoring in geography.
