The Arizona Republic's Doug Haller blogs about the ASU recruits
Demetrius Walker, a 6-4, 200-pound guard who will play at Phoenix St. Mary's High School for David Lopez this season after moving from San Juan Capistrano (Calif.) this past summer, has joined Trent Lockett and Ruslan Pateev as signees for Herb Sendek's basketball program. Walker is ranked No. 112 overall and No. 25 at the shooting guard position in the 2009 national class by Rivals.com. "Demetrius is an explosive athlete who will add both toughness and intelligence to our team," says third-year head coach Herb Sendek, who has placed ASU in the preseason rankings (both 15 in AP and ESPN/USA Today) for the first time since the fall of 1991. "We are really excited to have him in our program." Demetrius Walker scouting report via Rivals.com recruiting analyst Jerry Mayer:
A power guard, Walker has a frame ready for the college game. He makes plays with his athleticism, but also has a solid skill set. As a scorer, Walker loves to attack the basket but also has the outside shooting stroke to keep the defense honest.
