Latest Announcements and Updates

June 1998

Dear Valued Patron:

As we begin to prepare for the upcoming Sun Devil football season, we would like to inform you of some very special services available for our fans.

Since 1990, in response to the American Disabilities Act (ADA), Arizona State University has made improvements to the physical structure of Sun Devil Stadium to increase its accessibility and enhance fan comfort for all those who attend events. In that same year, the ADA Stadium Committee was inaugurated to oversee and guide the University in its decisions to alter various aspects of the stadium.

Since its inception, the ADA Committee, comprised of ASU staff and concerned members of the local community, has instituted upgrades which include accessible seating, parking, restrooms, and concessions throughout our football stadium. In addition, services such as shuttles from accessible parking areas, and cart service on the ramps have been implemented. Some of the most recent enhancements include assistive listening devices and TDD/TTY telephones at the Guest Assistance Center. ASU is proud to be the first stadium to provide closed captioning on its video board.

Today, we continue to strive to make additional improvements. The ADA mandates that 1% of the seating in all stadiums be accessible. In Sun Devil Stadium, ultimately, we are required to provide 740 seats. Currently, plans are underway to provide additional wheelchair and ambulatory seating in Sections 4, 5, 6 and 27.

On behalf of the committee, we would like to call your attention to the accessibility features at Sun Devil Stadium this season, and hope this letter will encourage you to take advantage of the various accommodations available, if needed. Please see the information and Ticket Office numbers at the bottom of this letter for various football events. Additionally, a more detailed brochure about accessibility features can be found by clicking on the link "Stadium's ADA Seating Pattern & Accessible Points."

If you would like further information regarding the Arizona State University ADA Stadium Committee, please feel free to contact us at (602) 965-3933.

Sincerely,
