Varsity Tryout Expectations:

Girls:
*Standing Tuck: on Basketball court. You have to have this to join our team this year.
*Stunts: If you have never stunted before, please do not attend. You need to be confident in all stunts on the score sheet.
-JV Tryouts will be in August for those of you not so "coed" stunt familiar. Even at that tryout though, you need to be "familiar" and have flown with stunts before you come. Find a local gym/clinic to attend to do so.
Guys:
*Tumbling: It is not currently mandated that you tumble. We encourage it from our guys, especially standing tucks. We have guys currently that do tumble and some that do not.
*Stunts: Guys that have NOT stunted before are urged to come to Varsity tryouts still. If nothing else, it will give you an idea of what to work on for the summer. Most guys that attend Varsity tryouts have in fact stunted coed before.

Video/DVD Tryouts:

Varsity tryouts (only) will allow a video/DVD tryout to be sent in if you are unable to attend in person. Although we do accept them, and will have judges score them accordingly, we do not encourage sending them in. It is MUCH easier to judge talent in person and ask to see specific skills, rather then in a video/DVD where we are unable to give verbal directions or feedback. We do understand that some circumstances arise, such as living out of town and will judge them fairly.
-Videos/DVDs are due into the office by May 9th (Friday) at 5pm.

Include:
-Fight song (one you know already)
-Chant (one you know already)
-Standing and running tumbling as listed on score sheet
-Stunts as listed on score sheet
*Still need to show multiple partners to receive all points on score sheet*

JV Tryouts: (August 2008)

JV tryouts will star the Monday before school starts in August. We do this since "move-in" for school starts then or even before. You will not be allowed to submit a video, since all students will be moving onto/near campus. The location/time will be set by August 1st. It will be for 2 hours on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and if needed, Thursday. You are more then welcome to come to the JV tryout if you do not make the Varsity team. The score sheet for JV tryouts is also available online to see. At this tryout, a standing tuck is mandatory from all girls. Stunting coed is also required, though you can be a little less "familiar" in this area. Ladies if you have NEVER coed stunted, it is your job between now and then to do so. Find a local gym/clinic to attend to familiarize yourself with this.
Ladies that have not stunted before are NOT encouraged to come.
This is a coed college level team with high expectations.
Guys that have never stunted, are encouraged to come learn. We would love to help teach you the skills
you need to add to our team. Sorry ladies, there are more of you so we have to narrow the field!

Mascot Tryouts:

If you are interested in taking one of our mascot positions, please come on May 10th to Varsity cheerleading tryouts at 10am for a meeting. Here you will learn more about what it will ask of you if you were added to the Sparky position. You will need to be there from 10-4pm just like the cheerleaders and at that time you'll work on skills that would make a positive, confident mascot. We are hoping to take at least 3 people to join our team as Sparky.
If interested please plan on attending.
