Arizona State Hires Liane Blyn As Sports Performance Assistant Coach

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Liane Blyn has been hired as the new Assistant Coach for Sports Performance at Arizona State University, Athletics Director Gene Smith announced Monday. Blyn comes to Tempe after over four years at Boston College where her responsibilities included overseeing the strength and conditioning for basketball, field hockey, soccer, softball and volleyball. She will work under Joe Kenn, ASU's Head Coach for Sports Performance.

Blyn, who has had additional experience at the University of Nevada, Northern Arizona University, and Miami (OH) University, carries certifications from the National Athletic Trainers Association, the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the United States Weightlifting Federation, the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association and the American Heart Association. She received Bachelor of Science degrees in Health and Sports Studies and Education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Blyn is also a competitive powerlifter and strongwoman and has competed on the international level. Her numerous first-place finishes in competition include the USA Powerlifting New England States Championships, the Pan-American Powerlifting Championships and the NASA Powerlifting Nationals. Her extensive knowledge of sports performance has afforded her the opportunity to present at the Boston College Football Camp and twice at the Clinic of Champions.
