To The Tillman Family - From a long-time Sun Devil season ticket holder and Cardinal Fan - Pat brought so much more to the game than just playing.....He became part of it and showed us all that if something was important enough to be involved in it that you should give it your all and believe you could make a difference. I'm sure that Heaven is celebrating the arrival of this wonderful young man that DID IT HIS WAY and showed us all just how much he was willing to give to keep us safe even though he never knew many of us personally. This Country knows and appreciates him so much along with all the other special men and women that he has now joined.....way too soon. May God enjoy their company and keep their families close to His heart...Pat and his comrades deserve everything that God ha to offer. Be proud....and thank you for sharing him with all of us.

It is fitting as I was trying to figure out what I wanted to say that Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Simple Man" started playing. I didn't know Pat, except from watching him play football and of course his amazing decision to leave all the glory and money behind to join the Ranger's in helping to defend this wonderful country of ours. I became a fan of Pat's because he played football like it was meant to be played, with all his heart. His decision to stay at Arizona instead of being lured away for more money only raised his esteem in my eyes. His courage to leave it behind to help protect our way of life, and then make the ultimate sacrifice is all that I would expect someone like Pat Tillman to do. I can only pray that I can be the same kind of influence in my children's lives.
Thank you, Lord, for sharing this amazing individual with us for the time we had him. We all pray that Your Grace is with his family during this most difficult time in their lives.

Pat, you accomplished more in your, sadly, brief life than most of us do in our entire lifetimes. I can't think of you and your sacrifice without tears stinging my eyes.
You did it your way, which you believed was right. What courage. Your legacy is your inspiration to all.

I never knew Pat personally... As a young man in high school I watched him play football for ASU. As an athlete myself I looked up to him. After 9/11, when Pat joined the service and left the NFL, I heard of his sacrifice, I respected him. Now that he has passed I have learned of his other great accomplishments. I am a senior at Arizona State University in the W.P. Carey School of business in the Marketing program. I am honored to be part of the same program that Pat completed with such success. I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. Pat's story is sad... but inspiring. Pat demonstrated that greatness can be achieved and demonstrated with class. He taught me that it is possible to be successful and humble. He is a role model to young athletes and his story will be remembered. He was a hero and local legend. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Tillman Family. For their lose of a very special person. We should all remember him for all the special things he's done in his life. Like playing football for the Arizona State Sundevils and Arizona Cardinals. And also in his personal life with his family. I've always respected him because he always speaks on what's on his mind and is not afraid to say it! And also he was not afraid to fight for our country! And for that, my family will always have the great respect for him. Retiring his jersey is a very thoughtful thing in his memorance. Remember him as a son, brother, husband, and a friend. He will always be in our hearts.

My thoughts and prayers go to you. I cannot imagine what you must be going through. I never knew Pat, I'm just some guy in Mississippi that is touched by his bravery, commitment, humbleness and devotion.
God Bless you and yours.

America has lost a true son. He did his duty and we should be proud that there are still men of his stature in the world today.

Confederate Soldier's Prayer
I asked God for strength, that I might achieve,
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey.
I asked God for health, that I might do greater things,
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things.
I asked for riches, that I might be happy,
I was given poverty, that I might be wise.
I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men,
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God.
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life,
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things.
I got nothing that I asked for - but everything I had hoped for.
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered.
I am among men, most richly blessed.
Found on the body of a valiant Southern soldier, 1861-1865
Known but to God
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

As my thoughts and prayers go out to Pat's family, I wonder what makes a man leave a career like the one Mr. Tillman left. He left his loved ones to go against an opponent far meaner and more evil than anything football has to offer. He is true PATRIOT as are all the men and women in our Armed Forces. Mr. Tillman is a HERO in my book and he deserves our HIGHEST PRAISES. GOD BLESS PAT TILLMAN AND HIS FAMILY AND GOD BLESS THE USA. That might not be politically correct, but I'm not a politician running for any office. I'm an AMERICAN

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your very brave son. He sounds like he was an amazing guy and you have a lot to be proud of. Your family is in my prayers, and remember that he will always be remembered by so many people for the choice he decided to make for this country. You raised a brave son and you should be proud of that. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
