In Memory: Pat Tillman

drew friedberg, madison WI
what an amazing individual he was, he will NEVER be forgotten!

Tempe, Arizona
Our prayers and thoughts are with the Tillman family during these difficult times. My wife and I had the priviledge of working at the Cardinals games that Pat played in at Sun Devil Stadium as well as many of his games with ASU. We are feeling an overwhelming grief at the news of his death.

Geoff Lasco: Greensboro, NC
My thoughts and prayers go out to the Tillman family. Pat was a true HERO and exemplified everything good about America and Arizona State. He was always willing to talk to everyone and took his star status in stride. It is a tragic loss to all.

Judd Wattenbarger, Bettendorf, IA
Thank you. You are an example to me and my children.

Ron Micucci, Emerson, NJ
I want to send my deepest sympathies to the Kevin, Richard, Marie and the entire Tillman family. Pat's sense of purpose in this life and obligation to our country are extraordinary. No words could possibly express the gratitude that I have for his sacrifices, both before April 22nd and sadly, afterward.

Art Retzlaff '93 (Freeport, NY)
Pat Tillman is and always will be a true American hero.

Gary Winchester (Edgewood, New Mexico)
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Tillman family for rememberance of a man who displayed more courage than any individual ever known. Youths should model themselves after the unselfish commitment Pat Tillman made for the good of mankind.

Sun Devil forever!

Dave Gourley, Professor Emeritus ASU
As a Korean veteran I feel more deeply possibly than some from the perspective of someone who enlisted to serve his country.

Pat was not in my class because I retired the year before he started taking marketing classes but I heard from my fellow faculty members the he was one of the best in marketing class - a straight A student. It was tough but not dangerous.

For someone playing hard on the football field and in practice this is tough but not dangerous. What Pat did in professional ball as a player was tough but not really dangerous. But what Pat did in the Army as a Ranger was dangerous and tough. He put himself in harms way not once but twice.

How many of us would do the same whether for pride or country.

I think very, very few.

It is this aspect of his life that makes my heart beat faster and harder and tears come to my eyes. Many have shead tear for Pat and rughtly so and the impact of his sacrifice will long be remembers. We as Americans living in a country based on freedom and respect for fellowman and woman need to do more than shed a tear and say a prayer. We need to support our men and women in the military by fighting on their behalf for better pay, benefits and respect.

We could start by demanding our Congressmen and Senators vote for the military to get even a small part of all the perks they get.

Now that would be something the Pat Tillman would have agreed is how we can show our "caring" about each and every man and woman that serves our country.

God Bless you Pat.

A true inspiration to all of us in these times, or in any time for that matter. He is with God, where he rightfully belongs.

Patrick O'Neill (Tempe, Arizona)
After watching Pat Tillman play with such passion as a football player for both ASU and the Cardinals, I found it to be no suprise when he went to fight for our country. He is a true role model for all of us. Because of his actions, I have been compelled to analyze my own desires and dreams and have found a new hunger for achieving them. I hope that everyone can look at this individual and feel the same as I do. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this time of grief.

Devin Kendall, Denver, Colorado
Pat was a former teammate and friend of mine at Arizona State. I will never forget his laid back, individualistic personality combined with the passion and intensity that he held in every endeavor in which he participated. Pat served as a positive example for me and the rest of our team. I will never forget Pat.

SAD PERSON ,GROTON CT.
I DID NOT KNOW THIS SPECIAL PERSON. I HAVE BEEN READING ALOT ABOUT HIM. HE SOUNDS LIKE A VERY RARE PERSON IN SUCH A SELFISH WORLD. GOD BLESS HIM AND ALL OUR FALLEN HEROS----MAY GOD GIVE HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS STRENGTH IN SUCH DIFFICULT TIMES-------AND LETS GET THESE GUYS HOME ASAP-----ONE DEATH IN THIS CONFLICT IS TOO MANY.

Mark Howey, Hays, KS
As an avid college football fan and former Marine I think a very appropriate memorial would be to name Sun Devil Stadium after Pat Tillman. My Alma Mater is forever naming facilities after big donors who contribute money. Mr. Tillman contributed something much more valuable than money. Of course he contributed his life but most of all he contributed his moral strength as an example for all Americans. I have two young sons and I would love to someday tell them the story of why Arizona State chnaged the name of their stadium to honor a great American and not just antother rich alumni. You are very fortunate to be able to count Pat Tillman as one of your alumni, every school should be so fortunate. His example should teach us all what is most important.

Phoenix, Arizona
Pat Tillman, what a young man. I watched him during his career at ASU and the Cardinal's. There was just something about him that you loved. This man is a real hero and role model for everyone. mk Mark McGaffin Phoenix Arizona My family's prayers and thoughts go out to the Tillman family. His example must be remembered and shared with generations to come.

Athletes who talk about the "battle" of competition should now take heed to what that really means. Pat's choice of leaving behind a career that most men would only dream of having, puts things into perspective. I hope the Professional Athletes who consider themselves "warriors" take a minute to realize that what they do is little more than entertainment. Pat's choice was a basic one---Protect his Country. Unfortunately we lost a great Patriot.

Much Love Pat. A REAL Warrior!

The Bridges Family of Dallas Texas
It isn't very often you hear of a story like Pat's. We are saddened and yet I feel safe knowing there are individuals like Pat on this earth. Our Prayers are with the family. Thanks for his service to us.

Matt Tennison, RSM California
Pat Tillman's selfless sacrafice embodies all that is good in our nation. His patriotism and sense of duty is in like kind with our nation's founding fathers and the WWII generation. His sacrafice, although tragic, serves as a monument to the principals this nation was built upon and helps to bring honor to all those who have fallen in this war.

Pete Drummond - Phx, Az.
My prayers are with the Tillman family. I feel fortunate to have spoken briefly before multiple football games both when Pat played for ASU and the Cardinals. I was one of the DPS officers who worked the games and many times Pat would jog over during warm-ups and shake our hands and just say hello. All the Highway Patrolman would comment how special he was. Even though those moments were brief , I feel honored to have met a true American hero. Pats death is no more tragic than any other in the military however his story is so unique in todays world that he is warranted as much adulation and credit as possible.
