In Memory: Pat Tillman

Benjamin Ong and family, Phoenix, Arizona
Watching him play on the field at ASU was a joy. Reading about his walk in life off the field we all knew he was special, and along with his brother Kevin, was the result of an outstanding family. Words are not enough to describe the pride we have had in knowing about their family nor the sorrow we share for their loss. My family and I will always remember America's best.

Tiffany Tom (Scottsdale, Arizona)
You will forever be missed, always thought of and never forgotten. Thank you for all that you gave.

Kevin Padula, Tempe, Arizona
It takes a very special person to be willing to give the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. I hope that the faculty and students at ASU understand the price that is paid for our freedoms. And just who it is that pays that price.

Dayna, Tempe, AZ
Pat,
At the first tailgate party of the 2004 Sun Devil football season, our group of ASU alumni will raise a toast to you: a man who didn't just "talk the talk" but a man who "walked the walk" and led by example. You were a true "class" act. May you be an inspiration to all Sun Devils. Thank you for your sacrifice!

David Crocker, Tucson, Arizona
Pat Tillman was, is and always will be a class act that few can follow. I have been in the military now for 25 years and am also a graduate of Arizona State University. Because of his outstanding accademic performance as a student, his heart-filled abilities on the field and his dedication to service and country, I can only be honored by his life. Best wishes to his family.

You have not lost a son or husband but have created a life that others could follow with dignity.

Danny Farrow, season ticket holder
my god bless his family in the trying time and thanks pat for honoring our country and for its freedom God bless you and thank you.

Bernie Hurlbut, BS'79(Gallup, NM)
Dan Patrick replayed his interview with Pat when he chose to leave the NFL for the Rangers after 9/11 this past Friday. If you wanted to explain patriotism and an appreciation of family to someone who doesn't understand those concepts, then you could use that interview. 'Nuff said.

Trey Scruggs, '98 (Indianapolis, IN)
Pat lived both sides of the American Dream. He sacrificed the success, fame, and fortune most people want but never achieve to serve others and his country. What an example to set for our children, any man, and the world. I've never been more impressed by one individual. Thank you Pat, I will miss you deeply.

Ray Gomez, Tempe, Az.
I'll always remember the free spirit that Pat Tillman was! He was the definition of a true American hero. Pat and the other 700 plus American servicemen and women deserve our utmost thanks and gratitude. He showed us the true meaning of sacrifice for one's country. Pat made ASU, the Arizona Cardinals, and the state of Arizona truly proud. Pat......we thank you and miss you. You will never be forgotten!

Mr.&Mrs. Richard Maes, Chandler,Az.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Tillman family. What an honor to have a son who excelled in all he did. How proud you must feel.

Tom, Los Angeles, CA
Pat's life will not go unforgotten; but, will serve as a lesson in true unselfishness for our country and the freedom it provides each of us. I hope his spirit will generate the incentive for us all to follow his example to become better people in our daily lives.

He has made be proud to be an American and a Sun Devil.

Thank you and Rest in Peace, Pat.

Mike Feeley, Phoenix, Arizona
As an alumnus of A.S.U., I'd like to thank the Tillman family for sharing part of Pat's life with us at A.S.U., as well as supporting his dedication to our nation in defending good and battling evil. He will be missed, but his mark on this earth will be remembered and appreciated. God's speed to his brother, Kevin, to Pat's wife and the entire Tillman family.

Denise George, Scottsdale, AZ.

Father, I pray that you are with Pat's family and friends in their time of grief. I pray that you comfort their sorrows and help them to understand that their loss is not in vain. I pray that you foster Pat's character, integrity, honor, humility, and courage in others; I think that we can all be made better by being more like Pat, as much as he may not apreciate that distinction. I pray for the community, Father, that we remember Pat, honor his memory, and never forget all the virtues and actions that set him apart and earned him our respect, admiration, and love. I pray that you continue to watch over him, Father, and that you have already welcomed him home. In Christ's name, Amen.
